2. Make sure to bring verification of rabie certification, and health certification, stating your animal is in good health condition.

3. Make sure to have your animal tagged with proper identification tags, and other required licensing tags.

4. Many animals start to get nervous, when they sense change. They may start feeling edgy when they see their home and belongings getting packed up for a move. Try and give them a little extra attention to put them at ease.

5. If traveling for a long distance, your veternarian can prescribe a safe low dose relaxer for your pet. It will make yours and their trip alot more pleasant.

6. Make sure on a long trip to bring food and water for your pet. Also a leash is a good idea for exercise, out side of their cages.

7. When you get to your new home, slowly adjust your animal to the new enviroment. Don’t let them loose right away, and keep a close eye on them. Also make sure if they have any ID chips, to inform the company of an address change.

The newest thing in the storage and moving business are pods. The pod is dropped off to the customer to load themselves, then moved to another location and stored until the customer is ready for delivery. Then the pod is arranged to be dropped off, and the customer has to unload the contents. Pods are a convienent way of moving for many people. Although if you compare pricing of self storage to pods, you are going to save a great deal of money with self storage. You will find that the price to store the pod, is almost double of what a unit at a self storage facility would be for your belongings. Also are the pods stored in a secured area, where there is a daily inspection done of the facility? Most storage facilitys also offer help with moving, trucks, movers , etc. So when the time comes for you to start making arrangements to move, take the time to compare, pods vs. self storage. I’m sure you can do alot of other things with the money you will save.

Now that spring is just around the corner. Many people will be getting their homes ready to sell. Your realtor will tell you to make sure that everything is clean, organized and uncluttered. By eliminating clutter from all areas of your home, inside and out. You will create a spacious and plenty of storage home, to potential buyers.

I suggest you rent a storage unit for all the clutter items in your home. If you rent ahead of time, it will give you time to go thru your house and seperate the save from the give away items. Also if your home doe’s go under contract right away. You can start packing up the things in your home, not needed for day to day living. Store the items in your storage unit. It will make your move , so much easier , when closing and moving day arrive. Your Self Storage facility should carry boxes and any packing supplies you may need for your move.

Here are some winter tips:

We would like to offer the following cold-weather storage advice. Preparing ahead for those freezing temperatures is wise.

Be lock smart. Rust-resistant brass locks and plastic coated weatherproof locks are good cold weather options. In freezing weather, heat the lock before opening it.

Cover your property with cotton or wool and not vinyl or plastic. The latter two may cause more damage in the long run. Condensation will develop on the underside, which causes mildew to form as weather warms up.

You should keep your goods off the concrete floor and away from the walls as much as possible. We suggest you place a cardboard mat or pallet on the floor and leave air space around the unit’s perimeter.

Be careful to consider what you store in the winter. Any expensive items that can be permanently damaged by cold weather should not be stored. A piano is a good example.
